Scrap Cars
Under European legislation all scrap vehicles must be treated at an End of Life Vehicle Authorised Treatment Facility (“ELV ATF”) to enhance recycling rates and protect the environment. In February 2008 Abbey Metal Recycling received approval from the DVLA and Environment Agency to open such a facility and have met the target 85% recycling rate. Material from an End of Life Vehicle is used in many ways, for example the recycled steel will be melted into new steel products, other metal alloys such as copper, aluminium, stainless steel, zinc and lead will be made into new goods, windscreen glass is used to build new roads, fuel and oils are used as fuel at power stations and even old tyres are often used in cement production.
Upon collection of the vehicle, we pay you by either cheque or bank transfer and produce a receipt for your vehicle, once this is issued by us your obligation to either tax or SORN the vehicle ends. We will then register your vehicle as scrapped with the DVLA. You will receive a Certificate of Destruction from us.

Step 1
Phone us for a quote on 01594 827 434, 01594 822 835 or 07836 729635. After agreeing a price, we will collect the vehicle at a time convenient to you (or you can bring the vehicle direct to our yard in Cinderford).
Step 2
We pay you the agreed price, issue a receipt and leave, taking the vehicle back to our End of Life Vehicle Authorised Treatment Facility in Cinderford. We inform the DVLA that the vehicle is no longer on the road and print a DVLA Certificate of Destruction for your retention.
Step 3
The vehicle is de-polluted and prepared for recycling.
